The American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT)/The European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) are proud to present the ASTCT+EBMT 7th International Conference on Relapse after Transplant and Cellular Therapy on November 14-15 in Madrid, Spain.
Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy (HSCT2) are life-saving treatment options for many hematologic malignancies and some solid tumours. Relapse and disease progression are the leading causes of treatment failure for most hematologic malignancies treated with both allogeneic and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and also CAR T cell therapy. Since the first symposium, more than 12 years ago, we have witnessed tremendous progress in our understanding and treatment of relapse including the development of therapies specifically licensed to treat or prevent relapse post HSCT and cellular therapies.
The conference will feature internationally recognized speakers from a multidisciplinary, diverse group comprised of basic and translational scientists and clinical investigators. The conference will include formal didactic presentations and informal discussion panels. It will also offer investigators interested in the field the opportunity to present their work in dedicated oral and poster sessions. As in previous years, abstracts will be selected for oral presentation in the meeting.
The planned objectives of the 7th International Conference are designed to present the latest scientific and clinical advances related to relapse after HSCT and to provide a forum for the presentation of ongoing laboratory, translational, and clinical research specifically related to this field.
The goals of the conference are to review the state of the science and basic, translational and clinical research related to relapse after allogeneic and autologous HSCT, along with cellular therapies.
- Update the current state of the science relative to biology and clinical study of relapse related to autologous and allogeneic HSCT, along with cellular therapies.
- Provide a forum for the presentation of ongoing laboratory and translational research specifically related to relapse following HSCT or cellular therapy.
- Provide a forum to present ongoing clinical trials that are specific to the study of and treatment of relapse following HSCT or cellular therapy.
- Provide an overview of the potential role of CAR T cells and other cellular therapies in the prevention and treatment of relapse following HSCT.

Abstract and Grant submission for the 2025 ASTCT + EBMT 7th International Conference on Relapse after Transplant and Cellular Therapy in open.
The submission will close on 12 May 2025; 23:45h CEST.
Abstract Submission Criteria
Abstracts will be scored based on the following criteria:
- Importance and Relevance: Is a clear rationale for the work provided? Does the study address an important question? Do its findings have the potential to advance the field of blood and marrow or cellular therapies?
- Originality and Innovation: Is the work novel? Does it present new findings and/or address a problem using an original or improved approach?
- Quality of Methods and Writing: Are methods well described and valid to answer the question? Is the abstract clear and well written? Is the abstract within the 300-word limit?
Please note that the abstract submission form does not have a tracker for word count. We recommend that you prepare your abstract submission in a Word document to confirm that you stay within the 300-word limit.
The top-scoring abstracts will be selected as Oral Platform Presentations; top-scoring abstracts that are not selected for Oral Platforms might be selected as Distinguished Posters.
Responsibility of Abstract Authors
The Presenting Author is responsible for the following:
- Ensuring that all authors have read the abstract and agreed to be co-authors.
- Notifying all co-authors of any additions, deletions, and changes to the program, as may be communicated by the Joint ASTCT-EBMT Basic and Translational Scientific Retreats.
- Obtaining all of the conflict-of-interest disclosure information from co-authors.
- Making certain that abstracts are complete (tables included and labeled) and written in clear, concise and grammatically correct English, so that reviewers are able to focus solely on the scientific merits of the submission. For authors with any questions regarding the clarity, grammar or spelling of their abstract, we encourage identifying and using an independent reviewer to edit the abstract prior to submission.
Please contact education.events@ebmt.org with any questions regarding your submission.

Travel Grants
We are thrilled to announce the expansion of the EBMT Travel Grant programme, designed to enhance participation, foster inclusivity, and advancing education within our Educational Meetings. These grants intend to alleviate the financial burden of in-person attendance to meetings, covering registration fees, and providing coverage for travel and accommodation expenses.
Travel Grants for Case Presenters
Eligible oral case or abstract presenters selected for the scientific programme of the Educational Meeting will receive an EBMT Travel Grant. The grant will cover registration fee costs, and a maximum reimbursement for travel and accommodation expenses.
Travel Grant Amounts
The maximum reimbursement will depend on the region of residence of the participant:
- Local (city/metropolitan area): no coverage (only free registration)
- National (country): up to 500 EUR
- European region: up to 800 EUR
- WANA* region: up to 1,000 EUR
- International: up to 1,800 EUR
*West Asia and North Africa
Eligibility Requirements
In order to be eligible for a presenter grant, applicants must:
- Submit a case or abstract through the system.
- Register to the meeting via the registration platform and complete the payment. Applicants are entitled to cancel for a full refund if they do not receive a grant.
- Submit proof of their trainee or junior faculty status. Junior faculty is defined by EBMT as having five years or less of experience in a faculty role. EBMT recommends a letter from the institution’s Head of Department, please find a template here.
Please note that EBMT will collect the date of birth of the presenter for statistical purposes, but age is not an eligibility criterion to access these grants.
Application Requirements
To apply for the grant, applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- CV (Curriculum Vitae)
- Letter of Motivation (maximum 500 words)
Documents must be submitted through the system.
Other Information
