Severe Aplastic Anaemia Working Party (SAAWP) Nurse
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join EBMT as a working party (WP) nurse. This position is available within the newly established Severe Aplastic Anaemia Working Party (SAAWP)
The appointment is voluntary and based on a 3-year term.
The purpose of the working party nurse is to promote, co-ordinate and deliver nursing education and research activity within the Working Party under the supervision of the WP lead nurse and in collaboration with the EBMT NG Research and Scientific committees.
Applicants must be EBMT members and a practicing Registered Nurse with experience of performing research and educational initiatives in order to lead projects and advise / support EBMT nurse members. Job description
Job purpose
The post holder will promote, co-ordinate and deliver nursing education and research activity within the Working Party under the supervision of the Working Party Lead Nurse, and in collaboration with the Research Committee (RC), Scientific Committee (SC) and EBMT NG board. As such they will be expected to contribute to the research and education agendas of the EBMT NG and Working Party simultaneously. As such, the post holder will, offer support and guidance in the development of research studies and educational initiatives, promoting opportunities for nursing research within the Working Party.
Reporting to
EBMT NG Working Party Lead Nurse and WP Chairperson.
Main activities and responsibilities
- To promote nursing research strategy and awareness within the WP
- To carry out research adding to the body of knowledge in appropriate areas and where appropriate, make a contribution to the strategic development within both the EBMT NG and WP
- To support research and collaborative partnerships.
- To support dissemination of research findings through publication writing, teaching, and presentations at conferences where appropriate
- To contribute to research within both the EBMT NG RC and WP, collaborating in the development of joint proposals and project work
- To promote nurses as investigators within research
- To assist in the development and delivery of educational initiatives promoting nursing issues, in line with the EBMT NG and WP
- Attend the business and regular meetings of the Working party educational meeting (agenda, content, presentation etc.)
- Facilitate communication and update the EBMT NG and WP Lead Nurse on new studies within the WP considering the potential for nursing collaboration with RC
- Identify opportunities to collaborate with EBMT NG and WP colleagues
Specific requirements
The post holder is expected to present ideas for any relevant nursing studies to the WP for possible collaboration, and where possible (with the support of the WP Lead Nurse and NG board), identify a WP project to contribute to.
Expected outputs
As a WP nurse, you are expected to deliver the following:
- Demonstrate how you link between the EBMT NG and your WP, leading on nurse involvement or input within Nurse Group and WP educational events research studies.
- Produce and submit to the EBMT NG Board and WP, an annual report of NG and WP specific activities undertaken (including research activities)
- Produce and submit a summary of the WP Meeting and communications to the WP Lead Nurse for presentation at the BAC (Board and All Committees meeting) and for the EBMT newsletter.
- Present slide summary (3-5) WP Nurse activities at the WP Nurse meeting (during the NG Annual Education meting)
- Demonstrate participation in WP research
- Assist other WP nurses to develop their research from a nursing perspective as appropriate
- Demonstrate an active role within the WP, working as an ambassador for the EBMT NG and WP according to the Terms of Reference.
Special conditions
- The post holder will/may attend 3 meetings annually:
- the EBMT Annual Meeting (and WP Nurse meeting)
- the WP Educational Meeting (funding should be agreed with the WP Chair)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Scientific Committee (SC) of the EBMT Nurses Group.
The SC in collaboration with the EBMT Nurses Group President and President Elect/ Past President, other Committees and other Nurses Groups, aims to co-ordinate and provide a range of educational activities for nurses and allied health professionals within the field of HCT and cell therapy
Applicants must be an EBMT member and will be required to speak, read and write English sufficiently enough to be able to communicate effectively. Access to email and phone is mandatory. Potential candidates should be working currently within the field of HCT and cell therapy.
Roles and responsibilities
In order to make the most of the team’s wealth of experience and ideas, you will meet face to face with the other members of the committee four times a year.

- The Board & All Committees meeting (September/October)
- Abstract selection meeting (January)
The committee holds monthly online meetings to share essential information and updates. They also communicate through additional teleconferencing and e-mail. The committee designates within the group all tasks that need to be performed in order to achieve the committee objectives.
The committee will support and promote the EBMT Next Generation nurse.
The scientific committee presents an annual report with an update of their activities to the EBMT NG Board with a proposal for operational expenses where required. The annual report is submitted to the NG Board on or before 1st of September to be discussed at the annual Board and All Committees meeting.
The committee will report in writing an interim update of their activities to EBMT NG board after receiving a request from the link person (will be requested 2 weeks prior to the board and all committees meeting and other meetings as requested). The committee designates within the group all tasks that need to be performed in order to achieve the committee objectives.
As a member of the SC you play a key role in the organisation of the EBMT Annual Meeting. This involves:
- Designing the programs for the nurse’s education day and the main meeting
- Abstract judging and selection for oral and poster presentations at the EBMT Annual Meeting
- Identify and allocate space in the programme for symposia and other sponsored sessions

Member of the Paediatric Committee of the EBMT Nurses Group
We have an upcoming position within the Paediatric Committee for the EBMT Nurses Group offering exciting opportunities for interested and motivated nurses to join the existing team.
The Paediatric Committee consists of EBMT NG members who have an interest in promoting paediatric nursing within the field of HCT and cell therapy. The principal aim of the committee is to improve the care of paediatric and adolescent HCT and cell therapy patients.
The main objectives of the committee are to promote, develop and share knowledge and experience between the paediatric nurses throughout Europe, developing countries and within the EBMT and to collaborate with the EBMT Paediatric Diseases Working Party.
Applicants must be EBMT members and will be required to speak, read and write English sufficiently enough to be able to communicate effectively. Access to email and phone is mandatory. Potential candidates should be working currently within the field of paediatric HCT and cell therapy. They should have an extensive experience in a paediatric HCT and cell therapy setting and teaching and presentation skills.

Next Generation Nurse Representative of the EBMT Nurses Group
Background
The EBMT Nurses Group Board and Committees comprises up to 20 members, the majority of whom are senior, well established figures in the HCT and cell therapy nursing community.
As a Nurses Group, we recognise that there is opportunity to invest in the next generation of transplant nursing leaders and increase the appeal and reach of EBMT to nurses who have more recently embarked on a career in transplant nursing.
The role of the Next Generation Nurse Representative creates an opportunity for an early career nurse working in the field of HCT and cell therapy to join our scientific committee as a voice for the Next Generation of transplant nursing leaders.
Aims of Next Generation Nurse Representative
- As a member of the Scientific Committee of the Nurses Group, actively contribute to the development of the Annual Meeting Scientific Programme and Education activities
- In collaboration with the Scientific Committee, createa Nurses Group session at Annual Meeting targeted at the interests of our ‘Next Generation’ nurses
- Continue to develop the Next Generation subgroup (community)for young and aspiring transplant and cell therapy nurses
- Lead this community and its activities through the Next Generation representative scientific Committee position
Communications and social media
Through EBMT communication team and EBMT Nurses Group Scientific Committee, the NG representative will be supported with social media and communication skills.

JACIE Accreditation Committee Members
The JACIE Accreditation Committee (JAC) is a prestigious and key committee within the JACIE Certification Programme that plays a pivotal role in driving the continuous improvement of transplant practices via the establishment and enforcement of standards and certification process.
The JAC works closely with the JACIE Office in reviewing all the inspection reports and maintaining oversight on all issues related to inspections and compliance with the FACT-JACIE Standards. The members meet within their sub-committees every two weeks for an hour long teleconference.
We are looking for people with an experience as a JACIE Inspector; ideally also as Team Leader. You can demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the FACT-JACIE Standards and the structure and the operational processes of the certification programme. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and you are committed to disclose Conflicts of Interest when required and to taking impartial and balanced decisions on reports reviewed during the calls.
