EBMT Expands Educational Initiatives to Advance Excellence in HCT and Cellular Therapy

The EBMT has established a dedicated Education Department, reinforcing our commitment to aligning with EBMT’s educational policy and goals set forth by the Scientific Council. This initiative underscores our dedication to fostering continuous learning, addressing knowledge gaps, promoting best practices, and encouraging global collaboration, all in support of EBMT’s long-term educational vision.

Key Educational Initiatives

Development of a Core Curriculum & EBMT Exam

A top priority for EBMT’s education strategy is the development of a structured core curriculum. As part of this effort, the EBMT Exam will be held at the 51st edition of the Annual Meeting in Florence, providing healthcare professionals with an invaluable opportunity to validate their expertise and stay at the forefront of advancements in Haematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) and Cellular Therapy (CT).

To support candidates, we have introduced the Online EBMT Exam Preparatory Course, a comprehensive program designed to equip healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge and skills required for both the exam and clinical excellence. This dynamic course integrates authoritative resources and practical insights, ensuring a robust preparation experience.

Commitment to Expanding Educational Resources and Collaborations

We remain committed to providing high-quality educational resources to our growing community. We continue to strengthen collaborations with clinical, basic, and translational societies, thereby expanding educational opportunities and fostering knowledge-sharing.

Through the dedicated efforts of over 200 leading experts in HCT and CT, the EBMT Handbook has undergone a comprehensive revision. This essential educational resource continues to serve transplant physicians worldwide, reflecting the latest advances and best practices in the field. The updated edition is available as an open access digital PDF, ensuring broad and equitable access to this invaluable knowledge base.

In line with this, the latest edition of the “Indications for Haematopoietic Cell Transplantation for Haematological Diseases, Solid Tumours, and Immune Disorders: Current Practice in Europe” will be launched in 2025. This publication remains a cornerstone reference for clinical decision-making in the field.

Practice Harmonisation & Guidelines Committee Workshops

The first edition of the Practice Harmonisation and Guidelines Committee Workshops in September 2023 successfully hosted five workshops from the CMWP, CTIWP, ADWP, and IDWP, leading to seven published recommendations and guidelines. The second edition in September 2024 in Lille continued this success with six workshops from the CMWP, CTIWP, TCWP, ADWP; LWP and ALWP  and the Nurses Group. Four guidelines and recommendations have been published, with four more forthcoming , all to be accessible via open access at the EBMT educational library. We look forward to the third edition in September 2025, as these workshops continue to provide recommendations, guidelines, and best practices in the field.
