New Annual Meeting Bid Process

by
Events

EBMT is excited to announce a significant change in EBMT's Annual Meeting bid process.

Our current process requires scientific teams and cities/venues to join in a single bid. Due to the size of the Annual Meeting, which had over 4,700 in-person registrants in 2024 and continues to grow, this model excluded many of the EBMT members in centers in smaller cities from becoming Congress Presidents due to the lack of local infrastructure.

The new process aims to create a more inclusive bid for scientific teams interested in organising an Annual Meeting by separating the city/venue bid from the scientific bid.

Venue Selection

EBMT will conduct a bid to select several cities in Europe that have an infrastructure (congress venue, hotels, transportation systems...) capable of hosting our Annual Meeting, and that will allow us the space to grow in the coming years. The Annual Meeting will rotate between these cities on a regular basis.

The details for city/venue bid will be announced later in 2024.

Organising Committee Selection

The Organising Committee, led by the Congress President(s) and Scientific Chair(s), will be selected two years before the Annual Meeting in a bid process open to EBMT members.

The details for the 2028 bid will be announced in 2025.

We look forward to this new change, and we hope that this approach will broaden the opportunities for participation of our members.
