Next Generation Nurse Representative of the EBMT Nurses Group
Background
The EBMT Nurses Group Board and Committees comprises up to 20 members, the majority of whom are senior, well established figures in the HCT and cell therapy nursing community.
As a Nurses Group, we recognise that there is opportunity to invest in the next generation of transplant nursing leaders and increase the appeal and reach of EBMT to nurses who have more recently embarked on a career in transplant nursing.
The role of the Next Generation Nurse Representative creates an opportunity for an early career nurse working in the field of HCT and cell therapy to join our scientific committee as a voice for the Next Generation of transplant nursing leaders.
Aims of Next Generation Nurse Representative
- As a member of the Scientific Committee of the Nurses Group, actively contribute to the development of the Annual Meeting Scientific Programme and Education activities
- In collaboration with the Scientific Committee, createa Nurses Group session at Annual Meeting targeted at the interests of our ‘Next Generation’ nurses
- Continue to develop the Next Generation subgroup (community)for young and aspiring transplant and cell therapy nurses
- Lead this community and its activities through the Next Generation representative scientific Committee position
Communications and social media
Through EBMT communication team and EBMT Nurses Group Scientific Committee, the NG representative will be supported with social media and communication skills.
- Promote interest in the Nurse Group activities and those of EBMT more generally
- Identify issues and challenges experienced by junior transplant nurses
- Grow NG community through National Chairs and groups
- Promote and expand the reach of EBMT NG and EBMT more generally
- Offer regular updates on NG opportunities and activities through the monthly newsletter
General
- Support links with ‘junior’ roles from EBMT and other societies e.g. EBMT Trainee Committee; young cancer nurse (EONS)
- Support the development, implementation and dissemination of EBMT activities using social media and other forms of communication
- Promote professional development and empower junior or early career transplant nurses to become the next generation of leaders in the field
NG representative inclusion criteria
- Working at EBMT member centre and is an EBMT member
- Currently working in the field of HCT and cell therapy
- Working in a clinical role
- Active on social media (eg LinkedIn) and can demonstrate experience of using this medium for professional communication
- Under 35 years of age
- Has been working in the field of BMT and cell therapy 2-5 years
- Is able to communicate in the official language of EBMT (English)
- Is available to attend monthly Scientific committee meetings online and in person meetings 2-3 times a year

Working in a ‘management’ or research only role

Research Committee of the EBMT Nurses Group
An exciting opening has arisen to join the Research Committee (RC)
The research committee aims to co-ordinate and lead the development of a programme of research in HCT and cell therapy nursing and other topics deemed relevant on behalf of the EBMT nurses group, progressing evidence based practice and clinical knowledge. The committee works closely with the EBMT Nurses Group Board and all other committees/working parties affiliated with the EBMT Nurses Group.
Applicants must be EBMT members working at an EBMT centre, with experience of performing research (e.g. whilst undertaking a doctorate) in order to lead projects and advice/support EBMT nurse members.
There is a requirement to speak, read and write English with sufficient fluency to be able to communicate effectively. Access to email and phone is mandatory. Potential candidates should be working currently within the field of HCT and cell therapy.
Roles and responsibilities
In order to make the most of the team’s wealth of experience and ideas, you will meet face to face with the other members of the committee 2 times a year:
- During the EBMT Annual Meeting (March/April)
- During the EBMT Nurses Group Educational Meeting and the Board and all committees meeting (September/October)
Committee members are nurses and Allied Health Professionals who will provide support to individuals within the EBMT community involved in nursing or allied health professional research and link individuals who have similar areas of interest.
In conjunction with EBMT members develop a program of nursing research priorities that are evaluated and reviewed regularly.
Develop an action plan and timetable to facilitate progression of the research program. Disseminate research findings and encourage adoption into practice.
Journal Publications
Studies and publications arising from the work of the Research Committee of the EBMT Nurses Group will align with the EBMT guidelines (see also the TOR).
