About the Annual Meeting

We are very pleased to invite you to attend the 51st Annual Meeting of the EBMT to be held in Florence from 30 March to 2 April 2025.

For many years now, Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) has stood as the sole cellular therapy in clinical use. Its position between experimental biology and clinical practice has fostered remarkable adaptability in its technology. This, in turn, has necessitated ongoing advancements in specialist expertise. Notably, the past decade has seen transformative changes, overcoming previously insurmountable hurdles of age, tissue compatibility and improving the toxicities related to the procedures. The advent of genetically modified Immune Effector Cells has propelled cellular therapies from academic research to large-scale, pharmaceutical industry-led clinical application. Moreover, several gene therapy clinical trials have achieved significant disease improvement, and more are underway. Indications for cell-based therapies are rapidly expanding both in malignant and non-malignant diseases. The EBMT has been integral to this, establishing a vital network that fosters collaboration among medical professionals, nurses, data managers, cellular biologists and bioengineers. The Annual Meeting highlights the highest-calibre science and the most important areas of these accumulated experiences, embodying the growing legacy of the EBMT and our commitment to uphold this standard of excellence. We are dedicated to encouraging the participation of young scientists to enrich the basic scientific content of the meeting.
